I'm cutting loose...

Sign in to disble this ad
REMIXED: A little more bass in yo face. Rough finding a balance of having the bass up front without dominating the song. Please give me your thoughts. Thanks.

Been playing for a lot of people over the past decade and I always do what's best for the band and the song. Gettin tired of that so this is my first venture into cutting loose a bit...

just cracking the door open here. Want in my writing to start putting the bass where it should be - right up front.

Feel free to comment, and thanks for listening.

It's the first track "Faik" on my page listed right below and right here www.myspace.com/joenervebass .

Terrific stuff, Joe Nerve. Excellent playing yet still sounds like music. I have some of the same frustrations my own self. One can only play "Blue Moon" about 500 times before it messes with one's head. I started doing an oddball solo project but never followed through with gigs or anything. I think I might now after hearing what you did.

Sweet song, but I think bass should of been a little louder.
IMHO, of course!

Thanks guys. Jimmy - I'm glad I inspired. I'm planning a solo gig for the end of the summer. It's something I feel I need to do at least once, everything my way - and I'll pay whoever doesn't want to do it my way.

Any input on the mix? Everything seems to have changed once I put it on myspace , and I'm only hearing it on my computer so I'd love some others input.

Very nice. Bass could be a bit more upfront, and the tones a bit thin, but I dig the tune!

I agree with the other comments about the bass being a little too quiet and the tone a little thin. Boost the volume a little and add a little bit more mid punch to and I think it will be there IMHO. Sweet song

The mix sounds sweet. Cool tune, it's got the late 80s early 90s Funk Metal type of vibe. In spite of the bass playing being "wanky," I think it fits the song really well, the bass and drums compliment each other well.

Gonna give my wankfest a final bump. Thoughts, opinions and critiques still very welcome.

Arite, I lied... this will be the last bump. Ya'll aren't the most supportive group of people... 6 comments in 3 days... I gotta admit that sometimes I get a little bummed out at this place. It was a lot different when it all began... yep, yep, yep.... ahhhh.... yep. Yeah. Ahhhh... whatever. I don't listen to any of your music either. Gonna start now.

Hey Joe,

Faik sounds like it belongs on a movie sound track.
With my computer/speakers, bass seems to need some more mids, imho.
To me it sounds like there's too much "musical space" between the bass and the rest of the song.

Some serious talent there.
Do it for yourself.

Keep on keepin' on.

Crazy SOB's, 'Swimming Pool' and 'Real'

I like it. MO: get rid of the phase/chorus, and boost your vol. Your part sounds like it should be out front, showcase yer chopz dude, don't cover it up. JMHO, I dig it!

Thanks for the input. I think I might actually add a whole new section, maybe redo the entire song when I get the time and take all suggestions.

PS. I never used a freaking effect in my life before this - and I kinda like it. Maybe that's why I don't use effects.
