I bought tickets today for the Yes tour here in the UK, for the Newcastle date on the 20th November.

I'm getting excited, has anyone seen these guys live before? Anyone else going to this tour?

I've seen them 4 times dating back to the Talk tour. Once with Trevor Rabin and 3 times with Steve Howe. Always incredible. Chris Squire is once of the reasons I started playing bass.

I saw them in Seattle in '76 with Gentle Giant.

Benoit David is from Montreal. Yes was looking for a front man while Jon Anderson was sick, and they found this guy on youtube i think (Kind of like the new Journey singer). Hope it's a great show.

I saw them in December of 08 and it was a phenomenal concert. I would have preferred Jon, but had he been there I wouldn't have gotten to hear songs from Drama.

David's voice is great and you can only just tell a difference between him and Jon. It'll be a great show, I promise.

I saw them in the early-ish 90s (95?) and thought they were pretty good.

They've got to have some of the best vocals as a band ever, up there with Queen.

I haven't seen them live though-are they able to pull that off well?

Yes. Very well, in fact.

I saw them on the Open Your Eyes tour in '97, only time I ever got truly killer seats at a show (2nd row middle) and it was a great show. I was heavily into them at the time and I remember it well, definitely in the top 5 best shows I've ever seen.

Only thing missing was Wakeman on the keys, they had the russian guy for that one.

What is the lineup this time?

Longtime fan here, seen them about 18 times dating back to 1977, and will continue to see them live whenever they come into town.

Yes are one of my favourite bands of all time, I saw them in 2003 I think it was. Amazing stuff. When the lights come on in 'Awaken', just incredible... You'll know when.

However I will be giving it a miss this time round as I have no desire to see Yes without Jon Anderson, and I think it's pretty disgusting that they have replaced him and toured without him, all without his consent or even informing him. It's not even like the guy has left, or died! Why couldn't they wait for him to recover. Seriously disrespectful.

I haven't come to this decision lightly, to miss seeing Squire and Howe in action again is hard but I had to follow my gut on this one. And if you think my attitude to this is in any way melodramatic, that's what being a Yes fan does to you.

Unfortunatly for Miss Fassa, the current line up does not play Awaken.

But I feel ya Kink. That moment during Awaken is magic. It is a very emotional moment, enough so that it brings a tear to eye and elevates my crusty old heart right into my throat.

Saw them here in '98 I believe. Lineup was:
Jon Anderson
Steve Howe
Chris Squire
Alan White
Billy Sherwood (add'l guitars)
Igor Khoroshev (keys)

Fantastic show. They sounded great. Enjoy the show!

As much of a Yes-head as I am, I've only been luck enough to see them live once - the '91 Reunion tour stop in Oakland. That was a show - everyone who'd been in the band was there except for Trevor Rabin, who was in Europe w/The Moody Blues; Alan White and Bill Bruford, instead of separate drum solos, waged Drum Wars; Chris' solo went for about half an hour and RATTLED THE WALLS; they played everything I wanted to hear in a show that lasted almost three hours; and I still have the t-shirt!

And yeah, I agree totally with Kink - this tour (the 'Hired Guns' tour?) stopped by here earlier this year and we did not go. It wasn't an easy decision to make for us either, but Yes isn't Yes without Jon's vocals...
