"Barbary Coast" is the no-brainer. It's on Weather Report's Black Market.

you might be interested in checking out Garaj Mahal with Kai Eckhardt (if you can stand the occasional corny lyric), Tribal Tech or Gary Willis recordings such as No Sweat, Bent and Actual Fiction

I like "The Chicken". There are some different versions floating around. I love Jaco's tone and the opening phrase is so cool. I also love the stops.

I know what you mean - I'm into that band because of Kinsey, Covington and Willis and less because of Henderson's playing. Not that I find it too "technique-y", just abit monotonous in the long run. That said, I find the albums Face First, Reality Check, Rocket Science and Thick to be very groove-oriented. Willis' solo albums take the prize, though - that's some of the tastiest, grooviest music I've ever heard.

FWIW, I'm a big Tribal Tech fan. Their earliest albums (e.g. Dr. Hee) were a nice balance between 'tribal' & 'tech'...at the time, the band had acoustic instruments (sax, piano, & marimba/percussion to go along with electric guitar, bass, & synth).
I do agree they maybe leaned a little too much towards the 'tech' side with later releases.
Thick has a Weather Report vibe...I thought Rocket Science was a strong album.

Willis' solo albums smoke.

There's some early Pat Metheny Group w/ Mark Egan that's worth looking into (they have a tune called "Jaco"...it's not in the "Come On, Come Over" feel, though).
I'm sure there's some Yellowjackets' material too...IIRC, Politics has Haslip doing a Jaco tribute on a tune called "Galileo" (again, not in the 1/16th note Funk feel of "Come On, Come Over").

You may want to hear Jaco playing "In France They Kiss On Main Street" & "Free Man In Paris" from Joni Mitchell's Shadows & Light cd/DVD.

More fretless & Funk-
Bakithi Kumalo...his work with Paul Simon ("Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes"). Kumalo also has a tune called "Jaco" on his San Bonan album. You can hear a bite at iTunes.

I would definitely check out "Barbary Coast" from Weather Report's Black Market.

Check out some Alain Caron, I think you'll dig it. I only have the "5" album, but I really enjoy it. Fretless funkiness.

I finally remembered something specific-
Christian McBride's "The Ballad Of Little Girl Dancer" from his Vertical Vision album has that 1/16th note Jaco groove (like "Come On, Come Over", "Barbary Coast", etc).
