Imitation fretless...

Here's my imitation of a fretless:

I have no effects applied, this is a direct-in recording. I, however, am using a little gadget that I made that attaches to the neck of my bass to imitate the mwah of a fretless. It's not near perfection, but this is a little sample, anyways.

Why, you might ask? I'm can't afford another bass, and I love that fretless sound.

Basically I have a small leather loop with velcro on one side and soft felt on the other. That way I can put it around the neck beneath the strings. When the strings hit the felt it makes the mwah sound.

At the time of the recording I had my action way too low for the felt (I had my action low for slapping reasons), so in a few notes you can hear certain harmonics too much.
