If anyone is interested, here's a link to my music page on FB explaining my latest project involving one of the all-time greatest metal albums done wrong: Metallica's "...And Justice For All."
I was tired of listening to my favorite album with no bass guitar. I've heard the remasters and I just got fed up. So I recorded them my fn self with my PJ. BradRat | Facebook

It was difficult to balance playing what I thought was needed, but also trying to stay true to what I believed Jason played. Learned the songs as I went. Thanks again for the compliment, and from my hometown is even better! |

Yep, trapped in Memphis. lol |

His recorded bass lines do exist, just turned down in the overall mix. They harvested them off the masters from the studio. |

I don't mean with the rips from Guitar Hero games or whatever, but someone actually recorded their own bass playing over that album and distributed it around the internet as "And Justice for Jason" back around 2003.

A friend told me two other 'versions' had been tried, but kinda sucked. Did the one you're talking about sound good? |

I've considered doing what you've done for many years, but didn't have the time or recording interface to do so. I never could figure out why they didn't remix and re-release that album, I read an interview with Jason many many years ago and he was super upset that no one could hear the bass on that album, he said "it's like I didn't even play on it". I would be upset too, especially because the recording quality on Garage Days is really, really good.
