Exclamation Inquiries Regarding Speeding Up Tracks & Different Tunings

I've got quite the dilemma here guys.

I'm trying to lay down a nice track of Take the Power Back by RATM, but the tuning never works out right. And here's why....

It seems during recording, RATM actually altered the track by speeding it up, which in turn shortened/lengthened the frequencies so that the instruments would be a few semitones higher than standard Drop D.

Try it out for yourself; try tuning your bass perfectly in tune, then go to YouTube and find the studio version of Take the Power Back and try playing it...
Do you not have to bend up to make the note stay in tune?

So, I guess I'm wondering if I'm right. I have my bass in tune (I'm very OCD about tuning as it is), so I know it's not me. However, when I try playing with the song, I always have to bend my strings a bit to get in tune with the song, which shouldn't be the case.

It also seems this applies for Even Flow. I just tried playing with the live version with no problems, but the studio track seems to be slightly higher as well.

So, is this true? Did they speed up the track after they were done and thus cause the notes to be cranked up a few semitones or whatever? This has really been bugging me, so some confirmation would be nice....

Thanks to those who actually perused this topic...didn't want to come off too grammar nazi-like :P
