| iTunes song burning question.

Our band has just released our debut CD. The mp3 song files sound great; all the instruments are mixed well. However, when I download the songs and then move them over to iTunes in order to burn a CD, the bass sounds slightly distorted on the CD.
I am not using any special conversion software, just the standard iTunes option to burn CD's.
Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this problem?
