J.C. Superstar bass tone?

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, here's a question for everyone. Does anyone happen to know what setup the bass player for the original J.C. Superstar recording (movie or Broadway cast - I think it's the same guy, but I don't know his name) used?

I'm all but positive it's a fender and a tube amp, but can anyone be more specific than that?

I'd really like to be able to get that tone - I can't get it with my spector and swr setup. Do I need a p-bass and a Sunn?

Comments from anyone who's heard the recording or may have the inside scoup would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Allmusic indicates that a small army of musicians, including four bassists, covered the score for "JCS." Sounds like your standard early 70s Jamersonesque P-bass tone to me.
