Dude, it looks like he is covered in something. Is it sand, camo, or what?

That's so sad to see and hear him like that! Notice how he deliberately misleads the band during 'Soul Intro'. I've seen the whole footage from that show and it's even sadder - there's some backstage shots of him running around like a madman. Sad, sad...

I wonder how Mark felt standing next to one of his hero's covered in dirt.

Liked the video.
Jaco had the motor skills pumping

I was expecting the worse after I read the "he's covered in mud" posts.
IMO, it was not that bad...considering.

I was expecting worse, which I guess is sad in itself. Cool video though, it's always nice to see some more jaco. Is it me or were the trumpets increadibly loud? Especially for the head the first time. Oh well, the guys solo was pretty cool, and that circular breathing that high on the instruments is pretty impressive.

Adam Nussbaum was the drummer on that tour. He was quoted in Modern Drummer as saying that "Gil brought Jaco along as a 'guest spark plug.'" I think that he just rolled his eyes when I asked him about that tour.

By the way, I think that was a joint tour with Miles Davis' band.

A little late to this one, finding it unexpectedly during a Search.

So, is there any story to why Jaco appeared on stage with all that mud? It's even all over his bass.

What was going on?
