Jaco Pastorius - Dolphin Dance( youtube-clip)

I don't know if this has been put up on talkbass before,
but I'll post it anyway. I have the complete show where this clip is taken from, and it is a great performance. What many people who are not that well versed in Jaco's life story( not necessarily people here on talkbass) do not know is that Jaco wasn't always a shadow of his former self and a musical wreck in his later years. In fact, he had many great and inspired performances during that time in his life( although he wasn't as consistent as he was when his illness wasn't as prominent as it became during the last 3-4 years.)

Anyway, here it is:

Yeah, someone posted this link about a month ago.
Someone recently was looking for some Jon Davis stuff...wish I coulda remembered to link him to this video.
It's good stuff...perhaps a bit "safer" than the balls-to-the-wall Jaco of the '70s/early '80s. And weird seeing Jaco play anything but the Bass of Doom.

On a tangent, I recently discovered the youtube stuff with Jaco, Manglesdorff, & Mouzon ("Trilogue: Live In Berlin 1976") is now available on DVD.

I came across it accidentally on Amazon a few months back, made me happy.

As most of talkbassers may know I uploaded a bootleg
of this concert a few months ago. I've known for some time that it is available as an
official release, so it's not right to leave it up anymore. I've therefore blocked all access
to the download. Anyway, even those of you who have downloaded the bootleg should
definitely but the official DVD. It is neatly packaged, has some really interesting liner-notes,
the overall footage/audio-quality is much better than my bootleg-version and most importantly
you support the artists!

But to stick to the topic, here's another live version of Jaco playing "Dolphin Dance" with an excellent, extended solo that will blow your mind. It's from the (IMO) underrated Live In New York-series. I recommend that everyone who has decided to believe all the negative stuff that has been said about these series( and as a result maybe not listened to them at all), download this track and listen to it. I seriously doubt that you'll dislike it. I converted it to mp3, so it won't take long to download:

People well versed in Jaco's music will spot familar licks here and there, but still a wonderful solo.
