Is there a recording of this song? Can you point me to the album? I've tried looking but the only thing I could find was the youtube video.

The Word Of Mouth version is my favourite.

To catch the full effect of that record...be sure to play the opening track, "Crisis", at full volume.

I always dug Crisis and thought it might have been a insight into some of the things that were running around in Jaco's head.

For a first listen I always take the time to listen to the CD in the proper order and entirely I'm waiting on the package, it should be here today with some luck!

Are talking about the youtube version with Jaco on Piano and Toots on Harmonica? The version on WOM is with the full band, horn section, etc. ….definitely a wonderful composition …amazing, actually. I’m moved every time I hear it. John and Mary is a beautiful tune as well. This record will just grow and grow and grow on you with time.

Keep in mind Crisis was recorded in Peter Yanolsis’ mobile van studio parked in Jaco’s driveway at the time. Jaco and Peter Erskine laid the bass and drums first. Then each musician recorded their part listening to the bass/drum parts only, not knowing what the other musicians had played. …pretty cool but I’m still not sure if I “get” that tune, full volume or not.

What Jerry touched on..."Crisis" sounds like schizophrenia.

Yes I meant with Jaco on piano, but I just listened to the full band recording and it's pretty great as well! I do like the piano/harmonica only version better though, it sounds much more personal and that fits the song so well... And the emotion they both put in that video, it may be my favorite song ever.

Watch it. It's a masterpiece. (Its Toots Thielmemans (the harmonica player), not Toots and the Maytals btw)

Good call.
I was wondering why Maki was so hyper abouts Toots Thielemans (a very happening guitarist in his own right)...Toots' harmonica playing sounds more like Bird than what one may usually associate with that instrument.

I think someone had mentioned to me he was also a guitarist, I had forgotten all about that. His playing is really awesome IMHO, very tasteful and full of soul. Love it.
