So, I´ve had a week or so with the standing in the shadows of motown book, and boy is it a blast! I did not realise the genious of this guy until I tried playing darling dear. Crazyness!

Anyway, I just recorded a small jam inspired by this. Not even halfway as tight or swingin´as the master himself, but at hey first take on this style
Check it out on my space and give me some feedback! It´s the one at the bottom - JJ Vs. Garageband:

Thumbs up Good job!

That was good. Sounds like you had a lot of fun doing it. Happy music.

Thanks!
Yeah, discovering Jamerson have certainly been a blast. My plans for now is at least to learn all the transcribtions in the book, and try to apply some of it into my own playing and lines...

Until I got this, I never realized how much of an inspiration that Jamerson was to me either. I find it hard to be content with boring basslines. I want them to have a sense of melody and direction. Of course, I have nowhere near the skills and musical sense that Jamerson did in executing them. Wow.
