The track "You give me something" has a simple but funky as hell bass line.......I don't know how to describe the tone, but I'd love to be able to get somewhere close to it!

Anyone know who the player is, what bass, what rig, and how to achieve a similar tone?

Cheers

I'm gonna take a stab and say Stuart Zender on a Warwick Streamer Stage I/II. He uses a lot of subtle effects to make it sound very synth-like and perfect. I don't even know what song you're talking about, though. I just know Jamiroquai.

Funk Odyssey - long after Zender had gone!!

Nick Fyffe was endorsing the new Yamaha TRB5P about this time...?

But a lot of the bass lines were programmed synths...

It's Nick Fyffe on a Yamaha TRP5PII bass, at least to my knowledge.. He's also used MM Stringrays (piezo version), Zon, ... He's also been using Ashdown amps while in Jamiroquai.

Hope this helps!

hey Oz,

i think most anything w/ a PJ config will get you in the ball park. that's all i've seen Nick use. also, i'm pretty sure he was an Ashdown endorser using the RPM-1 preamp & cabs.

and FWIW, i could pretty much nail "Feel So Good" with Sad PJ-5, Aguilar DB680, & Acme B2.
