Jamiroquai Live from Abbey Road Vids

Sign in to disble this ad
Here are three amazing videos with Jamiroquai performing at Abbey Road.

Paul uses his P Bass and '66 Jazz with Aguilar Amplification and his Gas Cooker DI. His tone and groove is just undeniable.

The whole band is so tight it's insane...

Enjoy!

That "Traveling Without Moving" track makes me think that Paul Turner and I are kindred spirits (except he is way, way better than me.) I suspect that like myself, he is the kind of guy that might really slap alot when he is by himself, but in a performance situation, is a finger man at heart. I know he sound great either way.

Hey Cheese,

Yeah, I see what you're saying. As a guy that just isn't into slap at all, I always cringe a little when I hear it being used. But Paul does it tastefully and it fits the music. He is a true groover and always serves the music first. His fingerstyle is top notch.

And what about that tone, huh?!

Nice clips!

I totally dig Paul's playing. My main gig is with a disco band, and I go for a very similar tone/style. I wouldn't say that what he (or Jamiroquai for that matter) is doing is unique though. He's emulating a lot of the same players I do.

Bernard edwards anyone?

Paul does it very well.

Yeah!
Paul is my favorite bass player to hear nowadays.
His tone is amazing!

I know I'll get slapped for this, but I do like Paul Turner's tone because he sounds like me. Seriously, he sounds like me on every bass I have ever heard him play. I suspect it is a case of the two of us having many of the same influences and playing similar sounding gear.

Let me make it perfectly clear that I am not saying I am as good as Mr. Turner, we just get the same sort of tone

Plus a big 1. My favourite band. I want to be in a cover band or badn that plays like this. What I really like is how the band reinvents the tunes. I will Freecorder this so I can capture the audio and add to my Jamiroquai collection.

Tight, as always, I've never really seen a sloppy Jamiroquai performance.

Dang, they are crazy tight! I guess that is one advantage of not being a trailblazer, you can really work on mastering the formula. They do disco/smooth funk as well as anyone I have ever heard.

Further examination of these clips shows that not only is the bass tone _perfect_, but there is also a really cute violin player, too.

HA!!
I can totally relate!!!
I love his playing and his tone.

Paul is taking a lot more liberties on these tracks than he does in this:
