I just started to work out the "Emergency on Planet Earth" record by Jamiroquai. The first track I have worked out is "Whatever it is I just can't stop". I recorded it on my four track and posted it on my Myspace site. Please have a listen and tell me what you think....if you have any constructive tips for me where I can improve it would be great.

Thanks

Good job! It's a killer tune, pretty easy to play but hard to nail. Your bass sounds great! Some notes were a bit off rythmicaly but you were generally very steady, I think you'll nail it if you do another take

Good muting technique. You should lay it down with drums if you get a chance.

wow, very nice. I was just listening to this song on the way to work the other day and was amazed by the tone of his bass. It sounds really grindy/growly on the song.

I've heard alot of good things about Jamiroquai but never actually listened to any.

Your bass playing has motivated me to listen to some. Thanks!

Not bad. Check your notes and rhythm at 7-8 seconds, you're missing a couple notes. Great tone though. Very growly.

Check out their Emergency on Planet Earth album for sure. It's their first and IMO best one. Very prominent bass playing, one of those albums where even non bass players take notice of the bass. My favorite bassline is on the track If I Like It I Just Do It.

Thanks very much people....I know it was a bit rough in places but as the old saying goes..."practice makes perfect". I'll keep at it and I will put "too young to die" up next as that is what I am currently working on.

And Bullhorn...get into Jamiroquai...first three albums....they are great.

1)EMERGENCY ON PLANET EARTH.
2)THE RETURN OF THE SPACE COWBOY.
3)TRAVELLING WITHOUT MOVING.

pretty good man, I love that line. Definitely lay a drum track to that, would be pretty groovin. Sweet tone aswell.
