I just got Nothings Shocking the other day for for the low low price of free 99. I used a 10 dollar off coupon at Cd Plus and the cd was 7.99. The clerk was like, "I can't do that. The cd has to cost more than 10 bucks." But he caved and gave it to me. Man I love Jane's Addiction. I've had the cd in my car for the last 3 Days. I almost forgot how much Eric Avery kicked ass. Anyways Just wondering if other people are into Jane's Addiction and what your favorite songs are. Mine are Summertime Rolls, Ted Just Admit it, Ocean size, Three Days, and Been Caught Steelin'. If I could only pick five that is. |

| | Guest Friend and Endorsee of Larry | | | | yes to all of the above but my all time fav. and defining line in my playing development out of those has got to be Three Days!!!
Eric Avery never got the proper respect I think. He was/is a bass genius, not unlike Scott Thunes or
MUZZ SKILLINGS!!!!!! |

Other than Three Days, I love Mountain Song, Ted, Just Admit It, Then She Did..., I Would For You (beautiful simplicity), Kettle Whistle (with Flea), and True Nature and Just Because off Strays (not classic JA, but still awesome). |

Crazy. Kettle Whistle was an awsome album too. I like the version of Jane Says on that album. |

| | | | I loved them back in the day. Won't listen to them without Eric A so I don't own anything after Ritual. I saw them live a bunch of times and they were always incredible. |

So many great songs, but my favorites would have to be mountain song (first song I learned on bass), three days (pretty amazing that song was recorded in one take, other than alot of extra tracks by dave...), and then she did (those last 4 tracks on ritual are just KILLER!).
I never got to see them when I was younger with Eric, but I was lucky enough to see them at reading a few years ago- I pushed my way to the front and had one of my favorite music experiences ever!

I would have to agree 100% with those who said "Three Days". Absolutely beautiful, along with "Then She Did". |

what i love is that his riffs seem so simple. but the bass is usually what drives the song. he's a great songwriter and i really really really despair about the fact i never got to see him live with that band. there is some good footage of the orginal lineup in the movie 'gift.' |

I love it but it's hard to find as the label no longer exists. I've seen it on evilbay but i don't trust paypal and don't have a cc so I guess I'll just keep looking in used record stores. |

A lot gloomier than the Jane's stuff, the theme of the album is the darker side of life in LA. Eric Avery sings in an almost monotone, Pete Murphy from Bauhaus-type way, but Navarro's guitar sounds immense, and Avery's basslines have never been better. Highlights for me are Big Sur, Iris, L.A. Song, Single and Son.
They did a video for L.A. Song - here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvEHlKR3hwo
EDIT: Sorry, misread the post... you've already heard the album.

Its Dave Navarro and Eric Avery the guitar player and bass player from Jane's. If you like Ritual then you would probably like it. As for Jane's last album I don't think it counts personally. Interested to hear Panic Channel though but I'm not getting my hopes up. |
