He mainly played jazz basses. But i've also seen him with a P and a Fender Aerodyne (P/J).

Amp-wise, he used an Ampeg through an 8x10. When i saw him it was an SVT 4 pro through a Mesa 8x10 (iirc). That show he was playing a jazz.

So, long story short... Jazz bass w/ a pick -> ampeg SVT -> 8x10

When i saw them he was using an Aerodyne, but his tone seemed much smoother than on AFAAC, which is what im looking for.

Yep, the aerodyne is much more P bassy than Jazz bassy.

I recorded an album a few years back with a very simmilar tone with a MiM jazz bass, played with a pick, through a rusty old Gibson 1x12 combo.

I was trying to get the tone of Matt Carterer (Smoking Popes), who also uses a jazz with a pick.
