Jason Newsted Sings Seek And Destroy

Sign in to disble this ad
Kind of a neat YouTube.com find. Jason Newsted sings the entire song, I think he has a better voice than James.

I think he only sings in this song for the most part though since throughout the verses hes pretty much only slammin' on the E string.

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzEDf...elated&search=

Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCpSA...elated&search=

Fans also get to sing in this as well on the mic.

IMO it was a combination of Jason and James' that made Metallica's vocals special. Vox haven't been the same since Jase left.

Regardles of what Bob Rock stated in "Some Kind Of Monster", for 15 years it was Jason that was the "heart and soul" of Metallica. You didn't see James or Lars out signing autographs for "the kids".

...and IMO it clearly shows in the time since he's left.

Backing vocals are a joke since Jason left,he IS the man and will always be.But saying his vocals are better than James'?Come on,James is one of the most important vocals of metal history.

Well, it's just my opinion. I like Jason's vocals better than James', but never said James's were bad.

Jason is one of my biggest influences. Not only is he a very talented musician, but just his dedication to music and how down to earth he is, is inspiring.

Did you say down to earth???? Try really getting to know him. Jason was a half way descent guy when he left Kalamazoo for Phoenix. By the time he was established with Metallica, he had become the consumate arrogant rockstar. He is a less than pleasent person, unless you are kissing his bottom or you have something he wants. Other than that, Jason isn't really that personable, or down to earth. As for his playing....EXTREMELY TALENTED....no two ways about it.

Perhaps the way he was treated by the other members of Metallica helped harden him to some degree at least.

And got him to leave Metallica.

I agree about the backing vox being a joke. Now it sounds like someone is coughing in the mic.

I think they failed to recognize how talented Jason really was, especially during the and justice for all era. Had he actually been audible, that album would have lived up to it's full potential.

Dude, he is a down to earth guy. This guy has jammed with local bands before, played at kids birthday parties in his neighborhood, and ALWAYS will talk with fans and give autographs etc. He also talks back to people on his website, www.chophouserecords.com .

well it's good that he put's forth that image, but unfortunately that's not who Jason really is. But I can only speak from a personal standpoint, from knowing Jason the person before he became Jason the Rockstar.
