Jazz/funk solo live video from my gig last night

Sign in to disble this ad
I just played a cool jazz bar last night in London with my Big Fan quartet - here's a little bass solo action on the tune 'Sunny' - that's Christian Miller on guitar.

Hope you like the funky groove - I'll add the full version of the tune some time soon.

Cheers

Mike

Very nice playing. I always like your tone on the clips you post. That's your warwick, correct?

Yes - but I just had it completely refretted and the tone has improved loads, the slap sound is much better, is riculously fast to play - plus I have a Shack 3-band EQ in it with MECs - it now rocks again!

Thanks man

Good-quality video!

I was there last night folks, and Mike's band, Big Fan, are very good indeed. My brother, who is not a jazz man, was really impressed.

Wow Mike, that was a really nice video, and even better playing.

Now if only I could groove that well haha.

Hmm, I didn't dig that as much as I usually dig your stuff. I guess it's because I'm more used to seeing you DT'ing all over the shop!

I knew in advance that this thread had to have great stuff and I wasn't wrong. I liked it a lot.

That's exactly why I did like it. You slapping/DTing wasn't overwhelming here by any standard, and was used quite tastefully in my opinion without neccesarily "taming" it. That was some mighty fine soloing there. I really dug it.

Thanks Havic - completely w**king out with slap chops, especially on a jazz gig, is very old hat these days - I love the sound of it but just used a little - I appreciate your comments.
