| | | | Jazz Recording Comments? Hey guys, I posted this on the double bass side too but I wanted to get some thoughts and opinions on this recording. Last night I made a jazz recording of Winter Wonderland with a couple of friends. None of us had really recorded much before but I think it turned out pretty nicely. Comments/suggestions? http://soundcloud.com/brandonsinkovi...sion-of-winter
Thanks!

| | | | Thanks, we were debating whether trying to find a drum player or not. We might add it but I think it works without it?

| | | | No, it's pretty upbeat. We were going for a more laid back feel

dont dig the trombone tone. too smooth for my taste
get a good drummer that can do subtle laid back things and improve your recording quality and youre good to go! |

Did you notice that after the head, which Mr. PC played largely in 2 (as you do through the entire piece in your version), he immediately moved to a walking 4?
Texture.
Your version was good; very good even. However, it lacked texture. What Ed linked to was an excellent example of how three of the best jazz musicians who ever lived created texture.
Your choice.

| | | | Yeah I think that's a good idea to go into walking. It's sort of one dimensional. I'll definitely try to incorporate some more contrast in the next one.

| | | Ok so we've been recording some more, got a gig lined up, and came up with a name. Just put up All of Me, Autumn Leaves, and Isn't She Lovely, featuring a violin friend of ours. How Insensitive is on the way as well. Please check out the recordings and let me know what you think. I played electric for isn't she lovely, not exactly my best instrument but I think it turned out okay for the most part.
Also, what do you guys think of the name 4twentythree? Inspired by the room number of the room we frequently jam in late night weekends.
Here's those recordings... www.soundcloud.com/4twentythree
