Jeff Berlin's "Tears in Heaven" video???

Sign in to disble this ad
I have seen this video online. It was like a home recording of him jamming out in this song in a studio. Does anyone have it or can you direct me to a link of it? Listenning to the song and watching him play it are two completely different experiences and they are both awesome.

Thank you

ANY footage of Berlin is tough to come by. Other than his instructional video and the Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe tour (long out of print and the camera is hardly ever on the bassist for long anyway), the best thing I've seen featuring Berlin is the Spice of Life tour (1987) live in Japan w/Kazumi Watanabe on guitar and Bruford on drums. Excellent audio and video quality. A couple times throughout the concert Berlin kicks in some distortion and wails away. 'NNNNiiice. It's pricey though (around 45 bucks I believe) and I think it's still readily available online...

Listening to "Tears in Heaven" right now and it's awesome... until that synth kicks in at the end.
Still, that guy can play and I even kind of like his tone on that recording.

I'm pretty sure Jeff is a 4 string fretted player exclusively. The man is a monster, truely one of the greatest soloists ever IMO. Too bad stuff he's on is few and far between.

AFAIK, Berlin has rarely played anything other than fours. I think he on occasion has used 5-strings when playing as a sideman (for easier on-the-fly transpositions I gather), but sticks to 4-strings on his solo material.

As far as I know, Jeff plays strictly 4, so the recording should be a 4 string as well. I don't think Jeff "cheats" and uses sixers in the studio.

The video for this song is sick. Its not a video so much as it is a private recording, but it is edited and it cuts from between him and his drummer. I found it on an international site. I beleive it was a russian or croatian site. If someone could find it....we would all be very thankful. To see him play that masterpiece is unreal.

I would love to see the video, anything by Jeff is pretty much gold.

This link was posted a while back:

Not exactly Tears from Heaven, but considering the lack of videos out there, it is an excellent find. It features Jeff playing with his trio and Miroslav Vitous. Jeff has such a great sound on this video, he's one of the few bassists you can recognize just by listening to a couple of notes.
