Jermaine Jackson kills........

Sign in to disble this ad
...on bass that is! I just peeped an old video titled "Save The Children" a concert film filmed back in 1973. Several relevant R&B artists from the era were involved including the Jackson 5. The band was playing live and Jermaine was ripping it playing runs not unlike what Sharay Reed and many Gospel bassists like to play! Very Jamerson-esque but cleaner and faster! I knew dude could play but dang, dude can PLAY! Surprised he never did any sideman gigs! He was very well qualified!

Oh, of course! Just a shame to let all that talent sit idle is my thinking!

I thought he was faking the entire time. Seems like every video of him live with the Jackson 5 was some complicated lines and runs, and his hands barely moved...

There may have been times when they played to tracks but in this film he was definitely playing. Thinking he was in his late teens in '73 (I was 14), he was a very accomplished player!

Wasn't he a student of Jamerson, more or less?

If anyone had the talent to do that wouldnt it be Michael Jacksons brothers? You think that because Michael could sing he was the only talented one? I am sure he didnt get all the talent and his brothers were musical lames. that was a talented family

I have seen him in a "Midnight Special" from about 1975. He was going solo already, I thought he played very good.

Smile

Growing up on early Jackson 5 music my FAV bass of all time is a Candy Apple Red Fender 70's Jazz. Why? Because Jermaine played one! I work at universal-motown and in June we will be releasing 2 live J5 concerts on CD (71-72) and i can tell you Jermaine is REALLY playing his butt off!! In the meantime check out Jermaine in the clip below. The J5 doing covers of "Stand" and "Feeling Allright.

LOL ...... He's the daddy. He's talking in the third person. ..... Sorry if someone else pointed this out cause Bassmickeyd ain't no fool.
What I'd like to know is if that was Smoke Robinson's daughter on the floor running her nails down Jermaine's back?
