hmmm, well putting aside my non-interest in that style of music, I thought it was not bad. Although, to be honest, in the moments where the band was playing strong, it was somewhat hard to hear the bass distinctly. I could tell/feel it was playing, but could not always tell what exactly was being played. When the band quieted down, the bass was distinct, though

We actually used very limited volume automation to try and keep the dynamics organic. I wonder if we should have just turned the bass up all around? :bassist:

My thoughts: Kick is a little on the loud side right now (snare might be able to come down a hair for that matter as well), as well as guitars in places. They seem to overpower your vocals in the first half of the song and your singer is playing second to punch and crunch. Instead of adding volume to your bass first thing, I would probably play with pulling the drums down a little in volume and see if your frequencies start complimenting rather than being punched out of the mix.

Yes, getting frequencies to compliment is something I've been trying to master somewhat, but with little success. I want to hear space between the instruments, but still have them mesh. I'm at the point right now where all the bad things sound great and all the immaculate albums I loved in the past sound like garbage to my ears, because I haven't taken enough breaks to cleanse my ear drums. :hmm::crying:
