Footloose. I didn't even notice the kickin' bass line until recently.

Now you go.

Shake It by Metro Station
If you listen to a bass cover you can actually hear the bass line, I like it.

I LOVE that bassline, but all my friends hate me for listening to it.

Hahaha me too, but I can't blame them, I didn't really care for the song until I noticed how cool the bass line was

Muskrat Love.

Really. Many years ago, I was in the car with my mom, and that song came on the radio, and I looked at her and asked, "Why are all the coolest bass lines wasted on the worst songs?"

She looked at me like I was speaking Klingon.

"No Reply at all" by Genesis. A far cry from the early Genesis' prog rock days, but a great bass line with 2 solos played by Mike Rutherford. A rare treat to hear in a made for radio pop song.

watch it here http://www.80svideos.tv/play.php?vid=136

I almost forgot, the theme song to the Brady Bunch definitely fits this category. That is Carol Kaye picking a P-bass with foam mutes under the strings! even better is the closing credits theme song! after the intro, listen to the cool bass lick leading into the main theme...that says yes to me!
http://sharerevmedia.com/component/o...ink/id,725862/ Laugh if you want, but it is a cool bassline.

"Too Shy" by Kajagoogoo. That's always the first one that comes to my mind in a category such as this.

I have to mention one more. The theme song from "The Jeffersons" that's bassist Chuck Rainey with a swinging bassline. I even recorded it so I can learned it, that's how good it is. Also the theme for "Sanford and son" is Chuck Rainey at his finest. It's full of his trademark double stops. Listen to it again!

Most of the Zep stuff on the radio. IMO they weren't good SONG writers (a great riff ain't a great song, and I find the lyrics to be way down the scale along with contemporary country).

"Silly Little Love Song" - Paul McCartney. I always *hated* that sound, but when I had to learn it for a band, I was stunned how cool the bass line was. Paul was cool...
