This really sets the standard for how slap bass should be played, IMO. And how the man can sing!

Is it just me or does that white bass look awesome? is that one of his moon basses?

i have an EW&F live at montreaux DVD circa 1997, and larry makes a guest appearance as a vocalist on the last song.

Larry is in fact incredible. Most people would love to half of at least one of his skills! (I know I would).

The video is really quite terrible as an instructional video, but it is quite wonderful if you just want to watch Larry play - you do get some insight into how he does it - but there isn't really any magic. The executive summary would be the "funk attack slap" - just gotta thump hard and pop hard to get that really great snap.

Larry kills! It's interesting that he slaps and pops not only near the neck, but also between the pups. Cool stuff!

This brings back painful memories! After seeing him live about 8 years ago, when I was just starting, I quit for 2 weeks! Btw, he still has the most beautiful sig model!
