LAST 5 CD's/ALBUMS/COLLECTIONS YOU HAVE PURCHASED

Sign in to disble this ad
Considering what a rebound the "single" has had in this era of individual track downloads, for those of you who still feel compelled to purchase an entire album's worth of songs from an artist or label, please share the last 5 albums/CD's/collections you purchased. I'll start (there are 7 because that's how many are on the stack I'm looking at, all purchased this month):

Poplife David Guetta (Techno/Dance/Pop)
Greycourt Lightning Bill Perry (Blues)
Chickenfoot Anthony, Smith, Satriani, Hagar (Rock)
CHHR2 Carrie Hassler and Hard Rain (Bluegrass)
Millie Jackson: 21 of the Best (1971-1983) (Soul/R&B)
Stax 50th Anniversary Celebration Various Artists (Soul/R&B)
Off The Wall Michael Jackson (R&B/Pop) (Can't believe this was missing from my collection. Now I have them all.)

(If it's not asking too much, please try to put a genre or category to each selection on your list. Thank you!)

The Tubes - Now and Then ('70s/'80s rock)
The Tubes - compilation CD of some sort ('70s/'80s rock)
Todd Rundgren - Arena ('70s/'80s riff rock)
Ben Harper & Relentless7 - White Lies for Dark Times (indie pop/rock)

can't think of the fifth, it's been so long...

Jane Monheit, Come Dream With Me (I <3 her)
Jane Monheit, Never Never Land (I <3 her)
Chick Corea, Now He Sings, Now He Sobs (brilliant, but somewhat difficult listening)
Kelly Clarkson, All I Ever Wanted (just kidding)

If you're a Tubes fan, or just getting into their catalog, you REALLY need Love Bomb if you don't already have it.

How's the new Rundgren? (He produced a few Tubes albums.)

Hey, I fessed up to Off The Wall! There's a reason why Kelly Clarkson sells CDs, and it can't all be obsessed 14-year-old girls.

BTW, I'm seeing a few classics in these lists that I can't believe are missing from my collection.

Arena is decent (I got it when we saw him here a few months back). It's pretty standard stuff, but not the pizzazz of Utopia. One song could actually be done by KISS with no problems. Prairie Prince is his drummer these days. Some of the old Tubes stuff could pass for Utopia with quirky lyrics.

Last five?

Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Raising Sand
Dr. Dre - 2001
Iron & Wine - The Creek Drank the Cradle
Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band - s/t
Explosions in the Sky - Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever

A bit of a diverse collection, but that's the best way to do things. All of these were on vinyl, because I've just started collecting (well, since January), and am looking to build it up to 50 albums by the end of the year.
