After seeing this clip on SITSOM (02.25) knew it had to surface one day,
check out the one finger playing ! Bit sparse of live footage in middle picks up again at end though

Thats pretty cool. I wish there was more view of his left hand though. Oh well, I still enjoyed it.

Isn't that a beautiful bass line? Just magic.

Watching the clip is great 'cos you can see that he rakes a lot and so must be getting very busy with his left hand on those arpeggios.

I'm just glad he never figured out you can use more than one finger on the right hand - it's already too hard to play with him using only one!!

Great clip! He has an excellent right hand muting technique using his floating thumb.

First time I´ve had the chance to see him playing.
That index finger is amazing. I´ve always admired his fluidity, taste and sense of rythm.

Thanks for sharing.

Man. Marvin's music really moves me. Watching that video is almost mesmorizing to me, as is listening to the whole "What's Goin' On" CD. What an amazing musician he was - truly moving music. Jamerson's playing was a huge component in the emotion which bled from his recordings.

May James and Marvin rest in peace. What great music they gave us.

I'm at work and can't view the video but there is a recent Marvin Gaye dvd that came out that has a live performance of What's Goin On (I believe from the concert for the children- I don't know if that's what was posted above) that has some footage of Jamerson as well.

That video is from a "Marvin Gaye the Real Thing in Performance 1964-1981" DVD. What you see it the only footage with Jamerson, but on the DVD is nice and clear and sound is awesome.
