I've been buying a lot of used vinyl records because they're cheap and I get to buy albums I normally wouldn't buy on cd and check them out. Anyways, I've been listening to a lot of pop rock stuff from the late '70s/early '80s like The Clash, Elvis Costello, Talking Heads, and Devo and I was wondering who some other great artists from that time period were who played a similar type of music. Thanks! |

New Order - Movement or Power, Corruption, and Lies (some danciness but really rock)
Gang of Four maybe
80's King Crimson (Discipline, Beat, Three of a Perfect Pair)

But what about
The Birthday Party, king Ink, one of my favorite songs ever..
Wire, their First three albums, 154 is a work of fine art.
Stiff Little Fingers
Japan
Tubeway Army
Killing Joke, first two albums
The Germs
Joy Division.....
and of course The Buzzcocks.
Edit: I know Gang Of Four was already listed but they are worth listing twice.... That song Cheese Burger is great.. the bassist was good too...

Thanks. They were about ten years to early....I saw them live twice..they were so drunk or something they couldn't play a note.....But their recordings are great!!
Forget MTV.. The best bands at that time never got time on MTV.. MTV was doo doo then and is even more so now!!!!!
The Clash the Clash the Clash The Clash... every album ever made by them. Ever!!!!!!!!!!! |
