Slow it by using some software like winamp plugin called pacemaker or a useful program named transcribe

What i did was just keep practicing it at full speed, but keep going til i get a part right, then trying to add a few more notes onto it etc etc

Im about half way or so through it now, from very sporatic playing and only starting to learn it 4-5 days ago

how would people learn it back in the day without computers so sophisticated..or no computers at all? they wouldn't be able to slow it down right?

Well they could use a record player and slow the revolutions, but then of course would move the pitch down an octave or however much

Play 5 - 10 seconds of it over and over and hum along, then turn off the tape player, hum along to your bass til it jives, then play the next 5 - 10 seconds. That was what I did anyway.

I remember learning to play that by ear. Just go little by little. Once you're comfortable with one section, add another, and so on. That last chord though... Man that one was a doozie to learn by ear. I cheated and went for internet tabs. I just had no idea where those harmonics were. They were literally one of the last places I would look.
