Led Zeppelin "Wanton Song" Question

Quick question about Zep's "Wanton Song". In the 4th measure of the "chorus", the last 4 notes that are played sound like they are popped. Is that true or is JPJ just plucking them extremely hard?

To me, popping is just extreme plucking.

When would that be?

I hear nothing "special".

EDIT: I would distorted+super hard, but could also be plucked, but I would definitely say dist.
But I might be wrong (would not be the 1st time)
