i didnt know anyone else liked saetia around here.

i listen to tons of "indie rock", but seriously, the only band you need to pay attention to is The Mars Volta. Their 3 song ep rocks, and their full length will be beyond amazing.

'Indie' stuff (whatever that means) that is in my CD player right now:
The Mommyheads - Bingham's Hole...great bass!
Parthenon Huxley (P. Hux) - Deluxe
Owsley - great pop record! very well engineered.

Guided By Voices!

Terrific POP recorded in basement style. Such great songs. 2 or 3 minute tunes. Nothing tricky, except the simplicity of it all.

-Atom and his Package (funny and cute pop)
-Against Me (incredible folksy punk rock)
-Swingin' Utters (folk rock that's awesome)
-The Sea and the Cake (easy listening)
-Fugazi.....of course
-Lungfish ...hypnotic.

And I feel somewhat obliged to mention Q not U, I'm not that big of a fan of them but my friend loves them and they're some pretty cool guys. I reccommend everyone check them out.

oh and

TED LEO AND THE PHARMICISTS!!!

Spoken language can not begin to describe how great they are.

This is a great band, they and Built to Spill had a huge influence on todays indies like Modest Mouse.

What are the Silver Jews like?

Anyone heard of Thee Michelle Gunn Elephant, sort of like Peppermint Tea House meets the Ramones!

Listening to the new Bloodshot Records Complilation Making Singles Drinking Doubles.

Pretty Girls make Graves are a few ex-members of The Murder City Devils. Good stuff.
They are to the Devils what Audio Dyslexia is to Cop Shoot Cop.

Anyone hear of Woven Hand yet? They are a side project of the 16 Horsepower boys. I'm going to go check them out at my friend's club right this minute.

Bye now,
~Ad

I like the instrumental stuff...

The Cancer Conspiracy (Best band ever. Check out "The Audio Medium")
Don Caballero (The kings of instrumental indie rock.)
Lightning Bolt (A drummer and a bassist. They rule.)
Tortoise
Hella (Just guitar and drums.)
Oxes (Again, no bass, but they kick ass!)
godspeed you! black emperor
Shellac
Lynx
Dillinger Escape Plan
All that Ipecac stuff

The other night I saw Battles, a new band with John Stanier (Tomahawk/Helmet), Ian Williams (Don Caballero), Dave Konupka (Lynx), and Tyondai Braxton. Keep an eye out for these guys...

I'm DL'ing some Cancer Conspiracy to check them out, but on the first song (lines and spaces) the guitar is WAY out of tune- are they all like this?

Out of tune, eh? I'll have to listen to that one again... I know the guitar can be somewhat dissonant on a few tracks. Download "Loft Complication" or any track off The Audio Medium, for that matter. That's probably my favorite record of all time. And by the way, they're coming out with a posthumous EP later this year on Big Wheel Rec. I'm stoked, y'all!

I notice a lot of you guys mentioning the Mars Volta and Sparta... do any of you post on their respective message boards? If so, what's your screen name? Mine is Andore_Jr

As for bands I've been listening to lately...

Pleasure Forever
Three Mile Pilot
Frodus
Keleton DMD
Planes Mistaken For Stars

and a bunch of stuff already mentioned (trail of dead, Hot Snakes, etc.)
