Hi Guys,
My band Kobi have just put three new tracks up on myspace. Could you guys have a listen and critique please!!
I would like to know what you think of the songs, my bass playin, the recording and whatever else comes to mind!
Regardin my playing (this is a bass guitar forum afterall) the first song 'contradiction' is a little less complex than the other two (mainly due to it being alot heavier and riff driven) so please listen to all three if this is what you'd like to talk about!
Anyways the tracks are here: www.myspace.com/officialkobi
Look forward to hearing your opinions good or bad all will be listened to! |

although I have one point where I'd like to give some contructive feedback - your guitarist is gonna hate me for it, but try cutting more lows out of the guitar - on it own it's gonna sound pretty thin - but it will gove more room for your bass, thus making your nice playing stand out more - I think this would give the tracks a bit more depth.
also - try copying the guitartrack after this and pan each track track to either left or right - so you have one of the 2 cloned tracks in each side.
I don't know how you guys recorded this - but I'd also try and send all the drums to an AUX channel and compress the signal a ton - then mix it in with the dry signal - it's gonna open up the rides/crashes a whole bunch, plus give more kick to both snare and kick drum.
anyways - I'd say the tracks are well done, punkish, which isn't really my style, but that doesn't mean I can't apriciate the way it's played.
keep up the good work

crusie | To be honest I'm not sure how we recorded it either, I left all that to the producer as I really don't have a clue regarding that sort of thing other than my own bass tone etc.
Thanks for the positive comments, and the constructive criticism which if I had a little more technical knowledge, i could take onboard!! But I will pass your comments on to those who can! |

I also watched the video and, even though the camera was a slut for all the band members except the bass player (as usual), it was still a great performance.
Rock on.

Rock on. | Yeh that vid was at a battle of the bands comp a couple of months ago. We're through to the quarter final which is in a few weeks so there should be another video up then!
