I was just quietly listening to Weather Reports Night Passages album, and about half way through, I started to get very melancholy and a well of emotions came up.

It is very sad that we will never hear more music from that group. There has never been nor ever will be any other that could touch that level of exceptionally gifted and fearless musicianship. They really went there and were able to organize some pretty insane funk.

I met the band and JP on more than one occasion, and really miss the music that they did during that period of time and can only wonder where they would have gone now if they were all around (and in JP's case... sane).

Damn, got to go for a walk now.

I listen to a lot of old recordings, a lot of people who are, sadly, gone. All I can do is be thankful for what they left behind. As long as we can still hear them, in a way they're still here.

It's rare to find that level of musicianship and beauty in one place.
Check out a new band called Human Element Scott Kinsey (Keyboards, Vocals) Arto Tuncboyacian (Percussion, Vocals, Effects), Gary Novak (Drums, Cymbals), Matthew Garrison (Basses, Vocals, Effects), and Special Guest John McLaughlin (Guitar).
