Live Afro/Algerian Funk video

Hey - played a really great gig last Sunday with my Rai band Ludomix - we had a good crowd of about 150 in a great London venue called The Spitz (loads of great acts play there doing jazz, rock, punk, world music) - anyway this was our last tune, we had three percussionists on stage, drums, bass, two guitars and two singers - a BIG band, big sound.

We all get a little solo spot - mine is just after the guitar solo, I didn't want to play too long so I just went flamenco slap...

It's a banging tune - yes it's a bit different - I hope you like some of it.

'Sahara' - by Ludomix

EDIT - Here's our Live Video - from a festival we played at last summer - this is our funk tune 'First Time'

Cheers

I dig it! I love Rai and Gnawa music. The Maghreb (North Africa) has some of the funkiest music on the planet. Dude, have you gotten into Tuareg and Malian music too? The little bit of Tuareg stuff I heard was wild. It was somewhere between jammin' blues and funk!

Thanks Cheesey - I really love African influenced music - I'm a huge Joe Zawinul fan but I'm also partial to lots of Fela (and Femi) Kuti, Baaba Maal, Manu Dibango, Toumani Diabate and lots of Afro-grooves - Rai is much more mixed and that's great because there's room for Latin bass lines, Flamenco chords and some funk too - I love this band and it's such a hit live that crowds get really into it - plus it's good discipline for me to hold that groove and the band together.
