Live recording (first gig with band)

Had my first gig the other night (first gig that wasnt a sub), and one of my friends snapped this recording of our last song. I was really happy with how it went, looking for feedback. It's pretty long but that is to build the epicness!

(bass solo starts at 5:30 in case you were wondering )

Check it out! Post!

Sounds good, bass sounded really sweet on the tempo pick-up at 4:30. Think the drummer should have hung with you through the solo though... it took too much of the momentum away. Also, the guitars didn't seem to have a good re-entry point. Rock on.

It's a problem having to give someone a look or signal. Even when we work it out ahead of time, up on stage things seem different. I like to put the sign in the solo, such as putting some big quarter note rests in first, but of course they might not be listening at that moment. The kind of music you are doing, very jam-based and free-flowing, is especially difficult. Keep on rockin'.

Yeah i've tried the musical cues thing, only works if it's an obvious change in feel or something, i'd have a fat chance getting my drummer to recognise a lick every time!

I think the solution is to just go with what comes out at the time and not get hung up on replicating 'that one time when we played it'. Appreciate the encouragement
