I don't know who is on bass here. I know the original was Tommy Cogbill. This performance was slammin'!

Excellent clip! Looks like it was fun to be Wilson that night! Thanks for posting this.

Couldn't get much of a look at the bass player. Duck Dunn sprang to mind, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

I cringe every time we play Mustang Sally, I know we are NOT WORTHY!

PS I think that one girl was doin' the Shing-a-Ling...

One of my favorite Cogbill basslines with one of the best R&B singers ever. People make fun of Mustang Sally, but that song grooves!!!!

If you do it RIGHT, it kills. If you don't ...

Probably the most slaughtered song ever.

+1, on a lot of gigs people call the Rascals turnaround on it, I love the Rascals, but after Wilson Pickett....please!

I found this thread looking for THIS bass player!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgI_3pa2THk

Anyone know who she is? She's FANTASTIC! Some beautiful soul playing here and on the other clips from the same show. So far I can't find anything!

Thanks!

Wow! She is good. Saw her pull off a couple of 'pops'! Maybe Jauqo knows. I see some info on the interwebs but most pics don't show a female bassist. The band is still around and are still known as the Midnight Movers.

Looks like a young Duck.

Mustang Sally should never be covered. Wilson and the boys took a cheesy song and made it art. Without them, it's just a cheesy song -- made even more embarrassing by attempting to copy what they did.

Could be Bugsy Maugh, I think he toured with Pickett before hooking up with Paul Butterfield somewhere around '66-'67

I'd don't think it's either Bugsy or Duck, as you can see from about 0:50 in the video.

Yeah, I think you are right. Still hard to tell but looks more like a young black guy. What ever, he was rockin' that bass.

Gail Parrish. Plays mostly blues with Charles “Big Daddy” Stallings.

Best scream in the business. Saw him on a show with B.B. King and James Brown, and guess who was the baddest, most 'Wicked' that night. Help me...my memory's startin' to sweat!
