LMAO -- Worst YouTube clip ever.

I don't know whats worse, the extremely bad timing, the horrible bass-less tone, the wrong tuning, the wrong notes, or the two Slipknot posters on the wall ( just playing, Slipknot are ok). I actually started to laugh when I watched this clip. Maybe I'm just mean?

I hope the poor kid isn't on TB... and if he is I hope he doesn't see this thread.

Well yeah the tuning is wrong and his tone is absolutely horrible. But for a beginner his playing isn't all that bad.

Wasn't that the VanHalen kid? He's getting better. Maybe the tab didn't include the proper tuning....ever think about that Mr.Critical??

Keep on rocking Dude, perhaps with a metronome.

The '5 Minutes Alone' clip was added 9 months ago. Here is his most recent one from 3 weeks ago. Getting a lot better, but god, my ears!!!

Even as a beginner, it's pretty easy to tell what is in tune and what isn't.

Not always. Some people have a hard time recognizing pitch and it takes some time to develop it.

I'm a drummer as well and I know young drummers who can't tell the difference between what drum is being hit (snare, bass, toms etc..) on a recording.

This isn't a bass player, but this is pretty bad on a number of levels. She sorta looks like Dana Plato from "Different Strokes" or something...

Enjoy! ...or try to....

I really want to leave him a comment giving him some tips. But I feel like no matter what I say it won't help.

I hate to be harsh on a beginner but what the hell? It sounds like he is playing an entirely different song than what is going on in the background. Pretty easy bassline on the original song too.

some people just need to put it down and find another instrument.

clearly he wants to play guitar in the first place.

Pity.

That's what I feel,

Pity.

I know I was that bad once, and wanted sorely to believe otherwise, but never displayed my crappiness for all to see unless seeking advice. If that is what he is doing, good for him. Otherwise.....

Pity.

I hope he overcomes, and helps other crappy bassists recognize the need for hard work and humility.

Well, let's put it this way, if he's still playing this way a year from now with no notable improvement, then there might be a little problem. Maybe hearing a little RATM, Rush, Yes or something with some good trebly bass tones in good songs might be inspirational and help him in the right direction...

In this, I agree with you completely. I know as surely as I sit here now, that at some point I sucked. Thank goodness Al Gore had not invented the internet (joking) when I first started, or else I'd have probably done the same thing, putting myself up on youtube...

Regards.
