Longest bass solo? (in rock) What is the longest unaccompanied bass solo on record that you have heard? The longest I can think of is Jon Camp's Rickenbacker solo on the 1976 Renaissance album "Live at Carnegie Hall". It lasts a full 4 minutes and 15 seconds, with no one else playing at all. He uses an Echoplex to nice effect on the last minute or so. |
Billy Sheehan has a 6 min bass solo on the Back to Budokan live album. |
It depends on how you define the word "solo". Gene Simmons solos' usually lats around 10 minutes but he really doesn't do much during them other than play a couple of random notes and then get hoisted to a platform above the stage. At that point he spits blood, plays a little more and then the band goes into a song, usually "God of Thunder". |
Martin Turner on Handy's intro is kinda of a Bass Solo and it's long. If you've never heard it you might enjoy it. |
Kind of hard to answer, considering Wooten kind of has a two hour solo every night. There's a long Entwistle solo on Youtube that I'm sure we've all seen before. |
