If you've done a search, then you already have this link, but it's always good for a repost:

http://www.ricksuchow.com/music-group-111.html

A good trick for downloading the mp3s - right click on the song links and save them as text files on your computer. The text files should contain the links to the downloadable mp3 files.

Also, beg, borrow, and steal for the Standing in the Shadows of Motown CD and book package. You could choose to spend a lifetime studying the songs and lessons in that book.

Can you post a list of what Jamerson stuff you have? Then it would be easier to know, like, what you don't have?

why don't you check out some of the Jamerson followers? Specifically Bernard Edwards.

My short list:
"Love is Here and Now You're Gone", Diana Ross
"It's a Shame", Spinners
"Thank You Love", Stevie Wonder

If you want backbeat, listen to T.Y.L.. A well-respected Jazzer once told me "Jamerson's so far behind the beat, he's still playin' the last song".

Here's your cuts:

Check out the "Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5" album. Before they moved out to L.A., the Jacksons recorded several tracks (mostly covers of hits by other artists) in Detroit with Jamerson and the Funk Brothers. Tracks like "Nobody", "Born To Love You", "Standing in the Shadows of Love", "Chained", etc. feature some absolutely outstanding bass playing that is very prominent in the mix.

Their hit singles were performed by L.A. session players (Wilton Felder played on "I Want You Back"), but the J5-Funk Brothers tracks are some of their best work, in my opinion.

one of my fav is one of the late jamerson session (early 80's) with crusaders : "street life " where he's carrying the bass chair along with reverend pops powell another great bassist in the jamerson style .

Don't forget "Pressure Drop" by Robert Palmer
Has James Jamerson, and Little Feat among others.

His first album, "Sneakin Sally Through The Alley" is also
worth mentioning, although Mr. Jamerson is not on it.
Little Feat AND The Meters are on that one.
