Looking for Chuck Rainey TV themes

Sign in to disble this ad
I was reading that Chuck recorded the themes to both Sanford and Sun and Hawaii Five-0. I'd like to get some mp3s of him playing them if that's at all possible.

I've looked on Amazon.com's MP3 (I don't buy iTunes, so don't suggest it) and can't find something that seems to be the real Chuck... just various cover versions.

If anyone has a link to where I could buy the music, I would be really appreciative. I would prefer to have it as an mp3, but I realize sometimes they aren't available. Any lead will help!

Thanks in advance!

THIS IS THE BIG ONE LIZABETH

the sanford and son theme is originally from the quincy jones album "you've got it bad, girl" (and is also on "quincy jones, the best vol. 2" which is what i have) and it is actually called "the streetbeater"...

both albums also have a song called "hikky burr" with bill cosby that is worth the price of the CD even by itself...dunno who played bass on it (no credits on my cd but i would guess chuck) but it's a great bass part

Grabbed it. Thanks a LOT! Now to find that elusive recording of Hawaii Five-0 that actually has Chuck (vs. the Ventures one, which isn't bad but also isn't Chuck...)

On the Quincy Jones album "Smackwater Jack" Carol Kaye plays a killin' intro on "Hikky Burr" ... check that one out!!!

Blasphemy.
It's Kaye (w/ her pick tone)...agreed, though, it's a nice track.

"Theme From The Anderson Tapes" has an EB part that is Rainey (URB is probably Ray Brown)...the version I have is from a compilation dould-LP called I Heard That! (never made it to cd). Pretty sure it's on some other Quincy album.

PUNCHIN' IN-
Damn, just checked my albums...it's also on Smackwater Jack.

The Streetbeater has two basses on it. Does anyone know definitively if both are Chuck? They definitely sound like they could be the same person, but it wouldn't shock me to hear that it was both Chuck and Carol!

I only have the MP3 and not the original record, so I'm in the dark...
