Looking for opinions

Sign in to disble this ad
We cut this song for a demo on Monday night and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, not just the bass but the song in general, the recording etc.

It's called 'In Parting', we recorded it in an old middle school cafeteria in a 'live' setting (no headphones, amps miced up, no partitions) using our guitar player's protools rig.

In Parting

Thanks a lot guys!

Josh

The link goes to a file that only plays about 6 seconds of some piano.

Musicianship sounds fine....I don't care for the song. No harm meant...just an opinion.

It grew on me. I'm a fan of the music and not so much the lyrics. The lyrics sound like you just stuck the Vertical Horizon song "Best I ever had (grey sky morning)" with "leaving on a jet plane" from john denver.

I think the music's dope though. And do you live relatively close to me? I can sub for you when you make it big?

Thanks! I don't know the Vertical Horizon song, I'll have to check it out. Right now I live in Bristow, VA right outside of Fairfax, so not too far away

I second the above. Great musicianship, but I don't really care for the song either. Too much of a contrast between the beginning and the rest of the song. Keep it up though I'm sure with the right songs you guys will do well!

+1

I think you guys are good players, but the lyrics and style weren't really grabbing me at all.

Thank you both! I would say that this song is a bit of a departure from our usual style. We did a couple other songs for this demo and I'm hoping they'll be ready soon. When we get them, I'll definitely post those as well.
