Looking for Play-Along CD's and Music Books... (minus Bass)

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought Dave Weckl's "In Session" CD and Music book (minus the Bass part)

I LOVE playing along with this.

Does anyone have any other suggestions of CD/Book combos that I might like?

I like Standard Jazz / Latin Jazz / Smooth Jazz / Fusion etc...

I know John Patitucci makes one.... Not sure if it's any good though?

I wish Chick Corea had one (minus bass)

I'd consider myself a pretty advanced player.

I'd appreciate your suggestions....

Thanks!

Sean Malone (Cynic/Gordian Knot) has a "guide to bass grooves", a theory book, and a book on Jaco's solos that I know of.

To Bloodhammer...

Thanks for replying so quickly.

Is this a type of "play along" that has the full band playing (minus the bass) along with the music to play along with?

I'm looking for more songs than theory books.

Can't go wrong with Jamey Aebersold's books. Though most include bass parts, the bass is almost always panned hard to one side so if you only use one ear bud or just adjust the balance on your stereo so only the speaker without bass is on its pretty much the same as a recording with no bass.

FWIW, the bassist on most of those recordings is Rufus Reid and you can learn a lot from transcribing his lines.
