Do they make songs especially for bass players to play along with? I've been looking and the only thing I can find is buying a specific band/album instructional book that MIGHT have some songs without bass. |

The Doors had no bass (player) either other than Ray on keys ... which totally did the trick in their case

I guess if you play as the bass part, but don't actually play any notes, then the bass part will not be in the mix. So if you record that, then you can have a version without the bass part. I am not familiar with those games, so I can't be any more specific than that. |

Its Dave and Tim Reynolds going through many popular DMB tunes with only 2 acoustic guitars. Its fun to play bass along with.

Then drop all of the parts except the bass into a multitrack program and you will have popular songs without bass to play along to. And you will have the bass track isolated so you can hear what is really going on. However, this does fall in a gray area legally (as Fletch said, "How gray? kind of in the charcoal area....") so you'll have to figure out how and where to find them. I guess if you bought the game then it is less gray... |

I'll leave this thread here for suggestions of recordings, but you probably want to look in General Instruction for info on the book.

You can play any standard format store bought or recorded CD and flip a switch and not exactly delete the bass track, but mute it/eliminate it enough that you can play along with the song and be that bands bassist. You can also slow down the song by like 50% without changing the pitch. Real nice feature for learning hard passages. Nice tool, in my book. It'll also "emphasize" the bass if you want, and it has a line out, head phone jack and a semi alright tuner built in. The built in effects are pretty weak, but if you need effects to learn a tune....Check them out thru google.

This will turn your entire music collection into a 'music minus one (for bass)' without buying anything new. iTunes has this as does most other playback programs.
One can learn the parts by boosting the bass, then practice by cutting the bass. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
