Can you guys judge this clip it's 80 beats per Minuit. and some of you may recognize this song and some may not but I think it's one of my best one to date.

Well, that was pretty horrible. Mostly because of that awful phaser effect. Seriously, lose it. Throw it in the bin.

It's difficult to tell under all that noise how well you're playing. Your timing needs work. Try recording clean and with a drum machine.

Your tone is as important as your timing. You have neither, IMHO.

you have timing... except it sucks. seriously though, the phaser sounds like an airplane flying overhead. it was hard to hear exactly what you were trying to do.

i am sad. i listened to the whole thing and there was no explosive takeoff... it was such a let down. like if you were at a space ship launch and it was all 3....2.....1.....silence.

Was that longview or a 1-4-5 Blues walk? I'm sorry, but spend some time in the shed with a metronome.

Sounded like the aliens invaded in the midst of a terribly played 12 bar blues, no offense. Turn off the effects, use a metronome and at least work on your timing. No bassist should ever insult you for not being flashy, but playing a good, solid, in the pocket groove is expected of all competent bassists. I realize that you're probably just starting out, so there's something to work on.
Good Luck.

that's much faster, just so you know . at first i thought it was alright, but then the second half of it you got real sloppy and sped up/slowed down repeatedly. i wouldn't rely on your foot for tapping. us a metronome or download a drumbeat program.

Thanks the part where I play 2 notes in a row then the slide. it allways messes up my time. Any tips besides practice for that?

Nope - practice is the best tip. Rember, practicing witout a metronome is like eating without food. A big old waste of your valuable time.

Ok, some tips...

1. Metronome
2. Practice your stuff at a really slow tempo, with a metronome until you can play it consistently without any mistakes - do not move to the next notch up on the metronome until you have it down cold! - Don't cut yourself slack for that one missed note or that part where you play two notes in a row and it messes you up... play it slow, play it perfect, play it a lot Then up the tempo a notch or two and do it all again.
3. Practice scales - look all around here, online, whathaveyou - practice your scales - WITH A METRONOME. Otherwise, go mow the lawn. It will be a more productive use of your time.
4. If you can, find a teacher. Don't take lessons from a friend - find a teacher who is reputable and do everything they tell you to do - one hour, every night with a metronome.
5. Did I mention using a metronome? If I forgot that part, please remember to use your metronome.

Tips done now.

you are making progress Derek, you are getting much better then when you first came here...just keep practicing.
i remember someone here has a sig thats a cool mantra, and it goes something like this
an amateur practices until he gets it right...a pro practices until he doesn't get it wrong

just keep practicing, and you will be good!

Thumbs down

Wow, that really sucks. I thought you'd have made progress by now, but you still haven't. You obviously haven't taken ANYBODY's tips. Throw the effects away and get a goddamned metronome. Listen to it. Play to it. Jesus-F'in-Christ.
