Lynyrd Skynyrd- Last of a Dyin' Breed

I don't usually listen to many new releases by classic artists. I usually find new releases by 60s and 70s artists to be bland, generic, and pretty boring (Bob Dylan being an exception...).

So.... on a whim I checked out the latest Skynyrd album. All I can say is... wow.... Ronnie Van Zandt must be rolling around his grave right now. With only 1 original member even left, I feel like this album the musical equivalent of taking a dump.... and taking a dump on the band's legacy at that.

IMO, they shouldnt even be releasing albums as Lynyrd Skynyrd at this point. I saw them 20 years ago, when Artimus Pyle, Leon Wilkinson, Billy Powell, and Ed King were all still in the band. I thought even then that it wasnt the same without Ronnie Van Zandt, Alan Collins, and Steve Gaines, but it was still pretty solid.

Now... hah! This album sounds like the guys decided one day... "man, how can we sound less like us, and more like Toby Keith and Trace Adkins). What a piece of crap.

Lynyrd Skynyrd is my favourite band since I started listening to them two years ago. Leon Wilkeson is also my favourite bass player, brilliant basslines! About the last album, I completely agree with your opinion, friend. God & Guns is bad too in my opinion. Sad thing is, but there is no Skynyrd anymore......This band that Gary and Rickey are in charge for, have no elements for holding Lynyrd Skynyrd name. It is very sad but true thing, real Skynyrd died in 1977.

Thanks for the warning since I think Toby Keith and Trace Adkins are awful and two talentless country acts who should never have been given a recording deal.
