Martyn Krügel?

I recently found this bassist on YouTube and was stunned with the fluidity of his technique. I then came here and "searched" for him with no luck. Has anyone heard of this guy? Is anyone aware of any book or video espousing a similar stress free technique. Thanks for reading my 1st post.

This fellow has a very interesting style. He was new to me, as well.
Hails from Joburg, S.A. I like his stuff.

I just now saw his website and he has free e-books detailing music theory with specific application to bass.

Quote from his free book#1: "The purpose of this Bass Manual Series is to present MUSIC THEORY as it is applied on the four string bass guitar in the simplest and most logical manner possible."

I haven't had a chance to go over them yet but they look promising.

it certainly looks nice, but i think his movements are more a function of the way he "feels" the music (expression) than what actually "needs to be done".

for my taste, there's a lot of unneccessary movement/"shaking"/rotation in the wrist.

in the two clips i've seen he plays very lyrical, so it works, but i'm sure that if he played some different stuff (fast bebop heads or so) it would need to look different.

Everything that I have seen by him has been contemplative, having little or no dynamic range or change in meter. I like it for that quality as well as his fluidity and economy of motion. I guess that I don't see the "unnecessary" movements. For me it just seems to all go together, beautifully.

I have downloaded his books and Appendix (7+1) for free and as stated above, they address music theory as it applies to the bass.
