There's a Marvin Gaye concert on BET Jazz right now...Anyone know who the bassie is and what he's playing?

frank blair played bass for Marvin. It might be him. Is it Live at Montreux?

I don't know. It never really said. The backdrop had the words Festival but that was about it. He was wearing a red jacket with music symbols on the back, and he danced with with two girls during a song.
The bassist was nice and tasty, and the bass looked like an Alembic or old school Carvin, but couldn't tell...

That would be Frank Blair. Very solid & tasty player! I think someone here mentioned the bass may have been a Japanese brand.

THAT is it!!! Thanks.Even with the poor audio quality (PLUS BET J's already bad processing) the bass was still audible even on my crappy TV.
