Someone on another forum I frequent posted this backing track for people to solo over: http://home.comcast.net/~selfcontain...kingtrack2.mp3
So I recorded a bit of improv over it with my Stambaugh 6-string. Here's a good 4:30 minutes of solo for you : http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?PID=954890
Recorded with both magnetic pickups 50/50 and in the neck side single-coil mode. Flat EQ.
Let me know what you think and enjoy. Feel free to record and post your own solos over the backing track too!

The soloing was a bit busy at the start, but I like your chops.

My only constructive criticism would be I'd like to hear you do this with 'real' musicians, you can obviously play, but some genuine interaction would make this a lot more exciting - as a demo it's nice but a little safe, and yes, the backing is way too quiet. You sound really good, why don't you make your own backing / tunes? You've go the skills dude - it's fun and you can still have some noodle time!

Mike | Thanks Mike! I actually just did a concert with a jazz ensemble a couple weeks ago (also with the Stambaugh), which was recorded. I'll be getting a copy of the recording next week and I'll probably upload some stuff and post it
I've done some stuff with my own backing, but it's just me playing the bassline + chords + melody/solo. I don't have any drum programming knowledge. Eventually, once I get the midi setup on my Stambaugh going, I'll be able to do some real cool multitracked stuff.
Been working on comping chords while doing a walking bassline at the same time too. Lots of fun! Lovin' the 6-string

Great playing man, hopin that I'll be able to pull this kind of stuff off with my 6 one day.

LOL!
OF COURSE IT'S JAZZ!
it's from the genre "smooth jazz". |

except when you have to stay awake and he's being played at work.
great playing by the way, made me realize some chops I need to focus more on but the thought of it eluded me for a while. |

Corny. The kind of stuff you hear at the dentist and in the grocery store. I automatically just tune it out now

I also agree that with this backing track it's very "empty" and that you could definitely shine a bit with something else to accompany you.
Oh yeah, nice tone too - I love that bass. Very woody, but still articulate sound. |

Lokire, that was really cool. Nice lines, and still groovy. I like when solo playing doesn't seperate drastically from groove playing. Makes it seem more organic.
I don't mind the backing track as it's so obviously just a backing track. As long as you're not planning on putting it out -then I would call Kenny for a cameo

It... kinda has that vibe.
But once again, not your fault, it's the smooth jazz backing track.
