Just picked this up after reading a recent BP article about Cris Kirkwood...

Although my knowledge of the band is very limited (Backwater), I really like the new record- its very melodic and sounds nice. Cris does a good job laying down the bottom while serving the songs! Might have to check them out as they swing thru in November...

Used to see them back in the SST days, I think I saw Soundgarden open for them. Great band the brothers are awesome musicians, what I remember about the bass was that it was loud, trebly and punchy and in my mind, is the sound I associated with GK, (I clearly remember the GK stack and marshall stacks). I believe he played a P most times I saw them.

I guess Chris had a period of lost years in some heavy drug addiction.

Good to see them back have fond memories of them, and of course Kurt Cobain dug them.

What you mentioned (P bass & GK) is still Cris' modus operandi, but he is plucking nowadays instead of picking. I was not too familiar back in the day about The Puppets, but I bought Sewn together after reading the BP article, and I still am digging it- kind of reminiscent of REM imo...

Might try to sneak away and see them soon
