Mechanical License for Red by King Crimson

Sign in to disble this ad
So my band is interested in covering the song Red by King Crimson for an album that we are currently recording. I went to Harry Fox Associates to buy a mechanical license for the song, to be able to legally but the song on our CD, and it turns out that they are only able to license 66% of the song. There is apparently another publisher that has a share in the song that it not represented by HFA. I've sent an email to HFA to see if they know and I've also looked at the publishing rights from the album which names BMG, but when I went to their website to look it up I was unsuccessful. Any Crimson fans out there have an answer? Thanks in advance!

I just sent an email to the support there asking for assistance. Anyone else have any ideas?

I wish I knew. Licensing can be very murky water. In fact today I got a call from Schirmer about a piece I've arranged--however, the woman there was very helpful, and worked with my deadline. Good luck: I hope yours pans out like mine.
